Being at home means to deal with a great number of personal and universal expectations to which architecture provides a setting. Therefore the notion of being at home is not just a question of space but depends on complex social, cultural and historical conditions. As a mirror of different conceptions of living we use the term «Interieur». By doing so we take into account the ambiguous meaning of the word describing the interior space itself as well as its representation in the arts.

Starting with case studies we would like to research changes and continuities in the notion of being at home from the renaissance up until today. By doing so, we will consider depictions of interiors but also furniture, life styles and protagonists that qualify as «interieur» rather than just as a simple room.
